It’s Not Enough

Reverend Genes releases their second single It’s Not Enough from the Time EP,  that follows quickly on the heels of the debut Space EP in 2023.

Dave Cantrell from Portland Oregon’s XRAY.FM and Stereo Embers Magazine said of the Space EP:

“This is a record for now and every now there’s ever been …
Rich with hooks and melodies instant addictability” 1

It’s Not Enough is a guitar driven, post-genre influenced track about one planet, millions of species and billions of us.

All living things need each other for food and shelter. In all its forms, life on Earth and its interactions is biodiversity.

Biodiversity has several levels, starting with genes, then individual species, then communities of creatures and finally entire ecosystems, like forests or coral reefs. 2

For many people, biodiversity’s wildlife is something you see on the screen. But the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat all rely on biodiversity. Without plants there would be no oxygen and without bees to pollinate there would be no fruit or nuts.

The rate of extinction is estimated to be 1,000 times higher than before humans dominated the planet. The number of animals living on Earth has halved since 1970. 75% of all flying insects in Germany were lost in the last 25 years. 3

We are the only species capable of re-shaping Earth. We can choose how this change occurs. How much human change is too much change? How much is enough?

The video for It’s Not Enough is available at youtube.com/reverendgenes now. It’s Not Enough is streaming on all major platforms from 21 July 2024.
