When listening to Where Siberia Ended it becomes clear that their songs are drenged in an atmosphere of alternative rock from the 80s and 90s. Yet, the Delft-based band has managed to create its own distinctive sound in which baritone vocals are standing out from a multilayered sonic landscape of guitars. It can already be heard on the band’s five-song debut EP “Dead End City” from 2019.
“Stuck (In My Head)” is the latest addition to Where Siberia Ended’s arsenal. This raw and riff-driven song leans more towards hard rock and grunge compared to previous releases, like their catchy single “Wasted (Dance With Me)” from last summer.
“Stuck” emerged from a jam during rehearsals and is noticeably influenced by Alice In Chains and Black Sabbath a.o. The song is characterized by overdriven guitar riffs, powerful vocals and energetic drum fills. Lyrics-wise “Stuck (In My Head)” contains a message about being trapped in a prison of your own conscience and trying to escape from things in your life that you’re not always able to change.
“Stuck (In My Head)” is a convincing piece of rock music. And while it may cause you a pleasant throwback ro the 80s and 90s, the song has an actual relevance.
