I Miss Me – Ellis Newman

Ellis Newman releases her third single ‘I Miss Me’ this fall. Written in a pandemic fashion, over the internet in a Zoom call with her co-writer and artist Elin Namnieks (Namelle).

This eclectic pop song is about the moments when you seem to have lost yourself. A feeling in which there’s also comfort in the bitterness: a knowing of who you are, accepting that you’re not that person for a while but that you’ll find yourself again sooner or later.
“It’s funny how song lyrics can become a prophecy sometimes; I lost myself a few times during the creative process of this song, doubted myself yet persisted and found myself again. That’s exactly what this song is about. A lot of versions later, it’s still not perfect – but nothing is. So I find it worthy enough for it to see the light of day and for the world to hear it on November 12th,” Newman says about her upcoming single that she produced herself.

The Dutch artist and producer took inspiration from songs like ‘Never Mine’ by Sigrid but finds an occasional country-esque hook. Some synth sounds could even be found in the Stranger Things soundtrack, but the overall production is bound together by a strong, groovy beat and Newman’s signature: a lot of harmonies.
