JASONWATERFALLS delves with new single into The Unknown.

On February 23, JASONWATERFALLS released long-awaited new work. With the new single The Unknown, the Utrecht-based emorockers confirm that they are the Dutch answer to bands like You Me At Six, DON BROCO, and Bring Me The Horizon.

After the release of the EP The Great Masquerade and the accompanying headline tour in the spring of 2023, no new music was released by the band. “With The Great Masquerade, we made the album we always wanted to make, we played our own headline shows across the country after traveling festival the Popronde, and the hard work was even rewarded with an Edison nomination (Dutch equivalent of Grammy). But what we wanted to do next, we weren’t sure,” says singer Thijs.

In the spring of 2023, the band had the opportunity to build their own music studio in their home town Utrecht, which was exactly what they needed. No worries about deadlines and planning tours, music videos, or making social content. The discussions were about plasterboard, rock wool, and electrical wiring, and a complete studio was built from scratch.

Once the studio was ready, the drive to create new music naturally returned, and the preceding period also turned out to be the inspiration for The Unknown.

“The Unknown symbolizes what we felt with JASONWATERFALLS after finishing our last tour,” says Thijs. “What we wanted to create, where we wanted to play. It felt like everything was wide open again,” adds Kirill. Bas and Paul nod in agreement, “It’s exciting to release new music, but we also took the time to discover what we really wanted to create, and we succeeded.”

With The Unknown, JASONWATERFALLS brings their characteristic mix of pop, emo, and metalcore, accompanied by intense 80’s synths, noting that with each release, JASONWATERFALLS establishes a heavier sound. A sound that also caught attention in Great Britain, where the band received airplay on BBC Radio 1. This attention translates in the first steps into the English live circuit this year with a tour of England and Scotland to promote The Unknown.

The Unknown will be available on all streaming platforms from February 22.
