Ringo Starrbucks fights chaos with chaos on debut-UP Dog’s Breakfast

The Utrecht-based garagerock/indiepunkband Ringo Starrbucks launches their debut-EP Dog’s Breakfast. The four track long chaotic trip catches the current zeitgeist in rattling punk energy, biting sarcasm and a big load of banter. Ringo Starrbucks will present the EP during their release party in Café Stathe in Utrecht, on January 27th.

‘A dog’s breakfast’, idiomatically meaning: a fucking mess. According to Ringo Starrbucks that reflects the world we live in today. That fucking mess forms the biggest inspiration for Dog’s Breakfast. In the lyrics, the band expresses itself about theme’s like overconsumption (Dog Cage), hateful internetcommunities (Incel) and unfit politicians (De-missionary). They do this in their own chaotic way: at one point furious and full of urgency, at another with sarcastic humour. Frontperson Daniël speaks open-heartedly about this in an in-depth interview with himself:

‘There’s just over a few things going wrong in the world at the moment. Internationally, it’s all fucked, but also national politics upset us. Sometimes you have to yell about that on a track. Nevertheless we feel the power of putting things in perspective by means of humour. It’s good for the world to be angry, but it’s good for your mental health to joke about that too. On Dog’s Breakfast the balance between that might be a bit off, but that’s what the name mirrors as well: a dog’s breakfast is a bit of a fucking mess.’

What that sounds like? Raw and unpolished, with sharp shout-singing, coarse gang-vocals and clever riffs. Inspired by indie rock from the zeroes, contemporary postpunk and underground garage punk.

Dog’s Breakfast was recorded, mixed and mastered by the Utrecht-based Vuurland Studio’s, with music engineer Ernst ‘Erny Green’ Grevink. The artwork was created by Bob Mollema, also responsible for designing the artwork on covers of bands Marathon and Orgaanklap. Dog’s Breakfast will be available on all online platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.
