Last Friday (November 24th), Dutch band Historian released their second single off their upcoming debut album, due release in early 2024! Historian is a true love letter to the past, inspired by the likes of Led Zeppelin and Jack White – which Lady of Fire rightfully and fiercely showcases!
Lady of Fire encompasses the tragic and fiery breakup of two figures, aesthetically inspired by the 19th century Academic paintings of John William Waterhouse. The first section, a folk-inspired elegy, has its main character reflect on the destructive end to their romance. The eponymous Lady of Fire burnt all hope for revival, but her actions gave the ground (on which the main character stands) room to grow and evolve. The second half, an explosive ode to the future wrapped in a folk-rock arrangement, has the character shout to the heavens for a better tomorrow. Lady of Fire promises that the future can always be better, no matter what happened in the past.
