APRIL 28 – The up-and-coming metal band Wake of Dawn are off to a flying start.

The new song ‘Sad Nostalgia’ is already the fourth song the band has released this year. In Sad Nostalgia, the band discusses the sadness that can come with nostalgia, also known as melancholy. Sad Nostalgia The song ‘Sad Nostalgia’ takes you into a nostalgic haze. You reflect on the things you have achieved and your dreams of the past. Then it gets darker.

You realize that those dreams of the past will never really come true, a grim atmosphere sets in and you can’t do anything anymore. You’re tied up. But then you wake up in a noisy train and realize that you were stuck in a dream.

The band consists of Gene Ten Braak (Lead vocals and guitar), Bram Brijan (Bass and backing vocals), Sietse de Krieger (lead guitar) and Bob Mali (drums). With their music they want to create something big and magical with their fans. By using the latest technologies, they remain innovative and surprising. The four men formed the band Wake of Dawn in 2020 and their first release was in early 2023, but even before that they were all already creating lots of music. Gene has already gained experience with the band DISTANT and Sietse with his solo project ‘Sietse de Krieger’ and he currently also plays in the band Raven Called Sin.

Highlights

· On the 13th of January 2023 they released their first single ‘Nightlights’.
· On the 17th of February 2023 they released their second single ‘Sword of Damocles’.
· On the 17th of March 2023 they released their third single ‘Wanderlust’ including a music video on YouTube.
· For their upcoming EP ‘Brinicles’ the band worked together with mix- and master engineer Ronnie Young (also known for collaborating with Plini and Periphery).
· On the 29th of April 2023 the band had their first live performance together in Kompleks, Heerhugowaard (NL).
