Van Zelf is Ruud Versteden, a singer-songwriter from the deep south of The Netherlands. With Van Zelf he explores different writing styles, recording and mixing techniques. Sometimes alone, sometimes accompanied by great musical friends. Former collaborations include Fred Eltringham (Sheryl Crow), Franky Gomez (The Big Four) and Len David (Stevie Ann).
Sober tells the universal story of leaving old, bad stuff behind and reconnecting with one’s dreams. Its production is heavily 70’s-based, thereby honoring heroes such as Neil Young and Bob Dylan.
