Stereo MC’s and Lemon: connected

Lemon support act for Stereo MC’s
On the 6th of Jan 2022 Lemon will be the support act for the legendary Stereo MC’s at Poppodium Duycker Hoofddorp for a second time. 8 February 2020 the band played as their support act for the first time and on the same day their singer Cath Coffey joined the band in the studio for the recording of two singles that were released later that year and early 2021. The singles “Love Can Take You Places” and “Shiiine On” collected raving reviews.

“Lemon could quite be one of the biggest hidden gems within the kingdom of The Netherlands” said weblog It’s All Indie after the release of the first (May 2020). Independent Music Reviews wrote: “a brilliant danceable beat that carries the listener to another world”. After the release of Shiiine On (May 2021), Talk About Pop Music wrote: “It’s a great Summer festival anthem”. Last Day Deaf called it “a euphoric, psychedelic hymn”.

Lemon is heavily influenced by the sound of the 2nd Summer of Love, when bands like Happy Mondays, Primal Scream and Stone Roses mixed Sixties pop with some psychedelic influences and a load of dance influences. Other bands who take inspiration from this sound are The Kooks, Kasabian, Cut Copy, Jagwar Ma and Chk Chk Chk. Lemon titles their interpretation NEDchester (referring to the MADchester genre: NED stands for The Netherlands, in Dutch: Nederland).

Lemon are Mark ‘Bong The Bass’ Bongers (bass, vocals), Paul Hesen (drums, vocals), Ralf Hesen (guitars, vocals) and Thomas Gense (guitars, keyboards, percussion, vocals).
