New single ‘Lunar Surface’ by Voltanz

Voltanz started in 2020 and is based in Groningen, The Netherlands.

The line-up consists of Pat Tuil and Dan Finx.

Because we had to spend time at home, because of the lockdown, we decided to fill the creative void by exchanging musical ideas online. This proved to be a master move: we were so productive that we decided to start Voltanz. Not our first band. We already played together in several bands since the end of the nineties. We started out with punkrock and noise, but after a while we progressed towards more melodic music, inspired by bands like The Cure, Blonde Redhead and Interpol.

With Voltanz we are moving to the next level. The name is a combination of Volta (change) en Tanz (dance). This isn’t coincidental: the tracks are catchier than our previous work and can be described as a mix of indiewaverock and electropop from the eighties, nineties and zeroes, with a twist. Recurring themes are loss, the inexorability of time and the confusion surrounding our existence. Our first single Leika was released in June 2020 and is about long-lost summer loves. Lunar Surface is about how hard it sometimes can be to communicate in relationships.
