Besides celebrating spring, it’s also important to feel comfortable the way you feel and think. Sunshine is all about that. It’s okay that the whole world is sick of sitting home whilst for you it feels good to clear your mind..
Sunshine’ is written by Haitze and his bandmembers: Tjerk (guitar) and Danny (keys). They wrote the song when their country went in first lockdown, because of the covid pandemic. Haitze felt really relieved, not because the world was upside down, but it was on ‘pause’. However nobody saw it like that. ”I felt like I wasn’t able to feel how I felt; relieved. Because everybody was angry and mad while I could finally breath again”. I was very busy at that time; I had to gratuade from the Conservatory, I had my debut EP to finish and also started a new job as a Music Educator on a Highschool. Because I felt I was the only one feeling this lockdown as a ‘pause’, I decided to hide my feelings and acted like I was also angry and mad.
But when I was in an online writing session, Danny and Tjerk told me that they felt it the same way as I did. So my message with this song: ”It’s okay to feel how you feel, talk about it and you will notice that you’re never alone”. Besides that, it’s also the perfect song to celebrate the Spring!
HAITZE’s previous single was received well on Dutch national radio. One of the biggest radio stations in the Netherlands called ‘3FM’ talked about ‘We’re All Kids’ in their ‘New Music Friday’ podcast and gave it some airtime. Also alternative radiostation ‘KINK’ gave the song a lot of airtime. Also blogs from Belgium, Italy and England wrote about the song.
