Opening 2021 with an intimate cover of The Smiths ‘There Is a Light That Never Goes Out”, THE CHASE started the year hitting home with those very applicable lyrics. Proving that this was just the calm before the storm, BLACK CLOUD punches through with its high energy, post-punk sound. Having been tipped by This Feeling on their prestigious Big In 2021 list, THE CHASE aren’t showing any signs of slowing down.
“Although Britpop has had a huge inspiration on our sound we take a huge influence from 1960’s northern soul, rock and roll and psychedelia, all the way to punk, post-punk and indie.” – Tyler, Vocals/Lead Guitar.
Not being able to gig during the pandemic might be a killer for the band, but they’ve been diverting that energy to their writing and recording. The high energy music video for Black Cloud, due for release the week after the track, gives a taste of their onstage presence.
“2021 is looking like it is going to be a great year for all things THE CHASE. We have plenty of content planned for release throughout the year, it is amazing how busy we have managed to keep during the current state of affairs. Being chosen by ‘This Feeling’ as one of their ‘Big In 2021’ bands has been a particular highlight so far, especially as it meant we got our track ‘I Just Can’t Believe That We Share The Same Name’ on a limited edition 12” Vinyl LP.
Our brand new single “Black Cloud’ is out on 19th Feb 2021 and was mixed by Sheffield’s very own Alan Smyth (Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Reverend & The Makers) and mastered by the legendary Abbey Road studios. We’ve managed to record plenty of music and create great content in between lockdowns (never thought we’d be saying anything like that a year ago) so that’s definitely a bonus – all will be revealed soon enough!” – Tyler, Vocals/Lead Guitar.
