Rijzende ster Greentea Peng kondigt vandaag haar langverwachte debuutalbum MAN MADE aan, dat op 4 juni verschijnt. Vorige maand bracht ze Nah It Ain’t The Same uit, de eerste single van het album. Met de nieuwe, tweede single Kali V2 geeft de Londense singer-songwriter opnieuw een inkijkje in haar wereld: meditatief, experimenteel, politiek getint, helend, trippy en humoristisch.
Greentea Peng en haar vaste producer Earbuds putten veel inspiratie uit hiphop, jazz, neo-soul en reggae. Halverwege 2018 dook de naam van Greentea Peng voor het eerst op. Met haar tweede EP RISING uit 2019 wist ze voor nog meer reuring te zorgen. 2020 was mede als gevolg daarvan een glansrijk jaar voor Greentea Peng, die een een reeks veelgeprezen nummers uitbracht, waaronder Revolution, Spells en Hu Man. Daarnaast maakte ze haar Britse tv-debuut bij Later… With Jools Holland. In januari werd haar succes bekroond met een top-5 plek in de Sound Of 2021 shortlist van BBC Music.
Ook in Nederland worden de releases van Greentea Peng opgemerkt. Met 18K maandelijkse luisteraars is Nederland namelijk het nummer-6 land op Spotify voor de Londense. Qua radio airplay staat Nederland zelfs in de top-3 van alle landen. Daarnaast is ook het editorial team van Spotify bekend met Greentea Peng, want meerdere tracks van haar zijn te vinden in populaire playlists zoals Slow Movement en Butter.
