BUIKA NEW ARTISTS IN EXCLUSIVE ONLY SPAIN

Exposing one’s true identity when speaking or singing to an audience is a privilege of very few. One of those unique beings is Buika, a singer with a sensual and languid voice, sweet and imperious at the same time; she can reach any heart, burning or not. Buika shows her soul to those who dare to listen to her, without fear of getting carried away.

The singer contributed as “La voz de la libertad” (“The Freedom’s Voice”) fell in love with the world again, covered by the chords of Carlos Santana in their last album called Africa Speaks.

“Yo me lo merezco” is the name of the musical piece nominated for the Latin GRAMMY 2020 in the category of Best Rock Song with which Buika and Santana are still applauded by specialized critics.

María Concepción Balboa Buika, born in Mallorca, daughter of Equatoguinean parents from the Bubi people, grows up surrounded by multiple cultures. Since she was a child, she has enjoyed a variety of musical influences, from soukous, makossa, high live, afro beat, African pop genres, to rock, jazz, R&B, reggae, soul folk, bolero, Asian songs and rancheras. Her extraordinary flamenco accent and some of these styles merge in her compositions.

As the daughter of fusion, Buika presents as her significant hallmark the endearing amalgamation of musical styles; which is a clear example of the diversity she has experienced and translates, with its music, for those who listen to it. Her extraordinary and moving voice wont’s leaves anyone unaffected.

Buika has collaborated with great musicians, producers and singers in various languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, French, Portuguese, Armenian and even Hebrew. Among these artists are Armando Manzanero, Carlos Santana, Chavela Vargas, Jose Luis Perales, Bebo Valdes, Chucho Valdes, Cindy Blackman, Seal, Nelly Furtado, Anoushka Shankar, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Jason Mraz, among many others.

Buika appears in the soundtrack of the film “La piel que habito”, directed by Pedro Almodovar, in which she also performs singing two songs of his own.

Her voice and melodies also adorn in a special way the advertisement “Pasión de Shisheido”, with Angelina Jolie.
